Lower Silesian Science Festival 2022

As part of the XXV Lower Silesian Science Festival, the Library hosted a workshop on “How to make a book? What elements is it made of? How can you easily make it yourself? Facts and Practical Exercises” and “Shadows and Glories of the Economy of the Second Republic.” Together, participants discovered the secrets of the library, books, and history.

How to make a book (September 16, 2022) – a workshop for grade 2 students. The class began with a tour of our library, and the place that aroused their greatest curiosity was the bookbinders’ workshop. It was there that the students learned how a book is repaired and assembled. Then, already in the lecture hall, they made their own creations. Who knows, maybe this group will include future librarians or publishers?

Shadows and Splendors of the Economy of the Second Republic (September 19, 2022) – As part of the Lower Silesian Science Festival, we have prepared a library game titled. “Shadows and Splendors of the Second Republic.” Its theme was the intricate fate of the economy of interwar Poland. It was attended by 8th grade elementary school students. We relied mainly on conversation with participants, but also tasks such as putting together a jigsaw puzzle of parts of the partitioned lands of the Republic of Poland, shopping under circumstances of hyperinflation…. In addition, participants watched a propaganda film from the era and were able to view original pre-war maps and atlases.
